Imagine Wonders That Never Fade

A train ride along an endless river is a perfect time to take a break from the routine. It also gave Sister Janet Hockman a chance to re-discover herself.
Sometime back, I wrote a few reflections from my train rides into New York City.
A few days ago, I was again on a Metro-North train, going south, next to the Hudson River north of the city.
I noticed a landslide or a rock slide on the other side of the river. What a striking contrast in that amazing vertical rock formation!
The layer under the weathered rock façade was light and gleaming. Hummmmm. I began to wonder at my own weathered façade and what might be underneath. What needs to be chipped away? And can I even imagine the wonders underneath?
When do I remember to say, to offer in prayer, “Let it be”?

Oh, yes, Sr. Janet. Wasn’t that slide an awesome sight? Our delightful God is doing all the chipping necessary. I think maybe we just have to be still. No, you nor I can even imagine the wonders underneath: the glory of the Creator, don’t you think????
We get a sliver of a glimpse once every forty or fifty years it seems!!…and that is more than enough! What do you think???

Hi Janet,
I also love that train ride along the Hudson river. But I never saw a rock slide. It’s easy to imagine one though, with lots of flooding that we’ve been seeing and hearing about. It surely gives me pause, to just go and see what is inside – what keeps going on there! Many thanks for this neat thought, and a push to go there ~ to find out and explore! Gratefully, Eliz
