'Zimbabwe's Children Are Vulnerable' Panning for gold is illegal in Zimbabwe, but that hasn't stopped cash-starved miners from setting up illicit digs and even recruiting children as slave labor. This year, Maryknoll Sr. Mary Frances Kobets in Zimbabwe helped rescue 30 children who had been handed over to work in the mines.
That's just a fraction of the 770 children, mostly orphans, Sr. Fran is helping through her education and nutrition program in the Catholic diocese of Gweru. She says we can keep more kids safe. Click below for Sr. Fran's report:
