Youth Issues

Youth ministries are as varied as the Maryknoll Sisters, of whom it is written, “no two are alike.” A Maryknoll Sister who's a professional dancer teaches physically-challenged youth through dance; another who earned her black belt in Tae Kwan Do in Korea teaches martial arts to street children as an aid to their self-esteem and self-discipline.

Other Maryknoll Sisters in youth ministry guide leadership programs that help students decide on goals for themselves and achieve them, while our other missioner members work in centers that offer sports activities and shelters that care for homeless youth. Involvement with youth ranges from campus ministry to parish youth groups to life values education programs to pastoral care for youth in high schools served by teachers, counselors and tutors.

Youth ministry is a priority as we build a future of peace and justice.
